The story behind salary figures
The Karir.com Salary Benchmark is built from users' own submissions: their monthly salary, at what level, in what industry, and in which city. This page summarises what can and cannot be read from that data.
What the data can tell you
- A distribution, not a single number. Salaries at the same level and industry remain widely spread. The result chart shows ten bands so your position reads as a place in a distribution, not as an exam score.
- Career level shifts the distribution. The level card on the result page estimates salaries for the next three levels by scaling your own salary, not by showing other people's pay.
- Outliers are removed. The top and bottom 2.5% do not shape the chart, so a single submission worth hundreds of millions cannot flatten the whole distribution.
What it cannot tell you
The data is self-reported, not verified against payslips, and only represents people who chose to fill in this form. The market range used to judge salary position comes from a 2015 survey and has not been updated — so a verdict of “di atas pasar” appears more often today than it should. Treat the figures here as input for your thinking, not as a negotiating benchmark.
